Coronado Foundation for the Future

Board Minutes:   April 7, 2010

 

Members in Attendance:  Karen Beckvar, Carl Couch, David Ortega, Kevin Schirmer, Duane Shelton, Bob Swan, Dixie Swan

 

CHS Administrator:  John Biere

 

Minutes:  Reviewed.  It was Moved (David O.), Seconded (Carl C.) Voted and Passed (MSVP) that they be approved and be placed on the CHS website for community access.

 

Treasurer's Report:  No report available

 

Principal's Report:  Principal reported that there were some helpful results growing out of his Strategic Focus Groups, held recently at CHS. 

            1.         It was agreed that the top three things that cannot be compromised are quality, parental                                  involvement and extra curricular activities for CHS students.

 

            2.         Participants set as goals:  increased communication, awareness of the global economy                               and success for all.

           

            3.         Participants saw as obstacles:  funding inequity/opportunities.

 

The CHS graduation is May 26th, 2010. 

Special Ed. kids won a medal in Floor Hockey.

CHS' Girls' Hockey team was invited to a very helpful/important soccer camp in California

 

Old Business: 

CFFF/Rotary Scholarship6 applicants were interviewed by CFFF Board members for the CFFF/Rotary Scholarship.  All had positive comments about Coronado and had a sense of community.  David/Karen MS and it was VP that Daniel Nieto be awarded the scholarship.  David O. thanked the counseling department for their help, and volunteered to e-mail all applicants.

 

Board Retreat:  Reminder to the Board to be at the June Board Retreat.  Details to follow.

 

New Business

Grants:  John is looking at generating grant requests.

Summer Schoolwill be held at Coronado this summer.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm
