Meeting Minutes

Meeting Minutes for 2010 thru 2011 school year.

Coronado Foundation for the Future

Board Minutes:  October 6, 2010

Members in Attendance: Keri Beracy, Maria Circle, Carl Couch, Thomas Dunbar, Kevin Schirmer, Dixie Swan, Robert Swan.

CHS Administrator: John Biera

Visitor:  Lee McGhee

Minutes:  Reviewed.  It was Moved, Seconded, Voted and Passed (MSVP) (Maria/Carl) that they be approved.  Dixie will send a copy to Dave H. to be posted to the CFFF website.

Treasure’s Report:  Treasurer Tom Dunbar reports that we have $100,137.29 in our account.

It was moved, seconded, voted and passed (MSVP) to reimburse member Dave H. for his investment in the Homecoming tattoos. ($228.00)

Principal’s Report:

The first quarter is nearly over.  Then comes Fall break.

The second quarter of the school years starts October 18th.

“Minds in Motion” was a wonderful assembly.  The many donations were deeply appreciated.

John is working with the heads of Coronado Complex PTO’s on a “Collective Capacity” plan…targeting parental involvement and awareness.

CFFF needs to be thinking of the whole “Coronado Complex”.

Board Challenge:  Board members are challenged to come up with $1000 to match funds donated by a Board member.  Monies will be used to support CFFF grants.  There is still time (and lots of NEED!!) for Board members to donate…bring donation to the next meeting!!

Guest:  Guest Lee McGhee, of “Coronado Cares Charity Club” reported that his organization is working towards 501(c) 3 designation and that the bylaws are being drawn up by an active member.   He is looking toward hosting celebrations to build up the community around CHS.

Old Business:

Homecoming: Maria presented CFFF with a wrap-up, information about all kinds of ways to keep in touch with alumni, including contacts and web sites.  Maria suggested donating remaining tattoos to the Explorer.  It was MSVP (Maria/Dixie) to do so.

New Business:

Principal Biera reports that there are grants that CFFF awarded for various CHS projects that were later funded by Bond Over-ride or Title One funds, leaving the CFFF grant money intact.  In order to properly re-claim and re-issue those grant monies, CFFF President Kevin Schirmer needs to contact the SUSD, via letter.  It was MSVP (Maria/Dixie) to proceed.  The November meeting of CFFF is our “Annual” meeting, when we discuss dispersal of grant monies.  It is hoped that we will have answers by then.

Discussion postponed:  Due to time constraints, a discussion about the upcoming 50th Anniversary of CHS and CFFF’s role in it, was postponed.

Reminder:  Keri wanted to remind all to vote on November 2nd.

DO NOT FORGET THE BOARD CHALLENGE!!

Meeting was adjourned, MSVP (Dixie/Bob) @ 6:45pm.

Next meeting will be Wednesday afternoon, November 3rd, at 5:30pm at CHS,

in the Principal’s Conference Room.

Please let Kevin or me know if you cannot attend.

Dixie Swan
