
PURPOSE: The intent of the Coronado Promise Scholarship is to encourage motivated Coronado High School Students to continue their education beyond high school and enhance their career opportunities.
SCHOLARSHIP: The award of up to $6,000 is paid over the course of the community college or trade/technical school program directly to the school for tuition and fees. Students must be enrolled in a Maricopa Community College or an Arizona certificate-granting, regionally accredited technical training/trade school to qualify.
ELIGIBILITY: Student must:
- Be a graduating senior at Coronado High School and have been enrolled at Coronado High School for at least one year at the time of application.
- Intend to enroll at one of the ten Maricopa Community Colleges or at an Arizona certificate granting, regionally accredited technical training/trade school for the year following graduation.
- Have a 2.50 or higher Academic GPA (based on the 7th semester)
- Complete the Coronado Promise Scholarship Application form, including:
- A resume (including school activities, work history, and community activities).
- An unofficial transcript through December 2025.
TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP
Student must:
- Be admitted in a post-secondary program prior to your high school graduation.
- Sign a Coronado Promise Acceptance Form.
- Attend the Parent-Student meeting in the Spring to meet your Scholarship Liaison and receive introductory information.
- Attend a follow up informational meeting in June to learn about course registration and ongoing scholarship requirements.
TO MAINTAIN THE SCHOLARSHIP
Student must:
- Maintain a 2.5, or higher, grade point average (a copy of each term's transcript must be submitted to the CFFF Semester Update Form before the next term's tuition will be paid).
- Make regular progress toward a degree or certification as defined by the school.
- Maintain contact with your CFFF scholarship liaison and respond to requests from your scholarship liaison.
- No gap semesters are permitted without prior authorization through the CFFF. The expectation is that students will begin the fall after the scholarship is received.
- Attend at least one ongoing Scholarship Renewal Seminar hosted by CFFF per year.
- Before June 30 for your first term and at the end of each subsequent term complete CFFF Semester Update Form:
- Name of school you will be attending for the next term (plus address of school – where checks are to be sent).
- Class registration.
- Semester billing invoice.
- Unofficial transcript showing all classes taken and your GPA.
- Any changes to your contact information.
- FAILURE TO PROVIDE THE ABOVE INFORMATION BY JUNE 30 FOR FALL TERMS AND DECEMBER 31 FOR SPRING TERMS WILL RESULT IN A DELAY OF YOUR SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT.
IF, FOR ANY REASON THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT FAILS TO MAKE REGULAR PROGRESS TOWARD COMPLETION OF AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE OR VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATION, OR FAILS TO MAINTAIN CONTACT WITH CFFF, ANY UNUSED SCHOLARSHIP DOLLARS ALLOCATED ON BEHALF OF THAT STUDENT WILL REMAIN WITH THE CORONADO PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
